Behaviour

In St. Catherine’s, positive attitudes and self-discipline are encouraged and praised. It is our aim that the children display independence and a sense of responsibility. School rules are kept to a minimum, compatible with the care of the children and organisation of the school. The involvement of the children in the formation of these rules at the beginning of each school year helps to ensure commitment and to create positive classroom environments.

If there are persistent behaviour problems, parents are contacted and efforts are made to identify causes in order to set up an effective programme of support and improvement.

As a Catholic school, reconciliation and the restorative approach is a central part of school life. We recognise that children and adults are human and that occasionally there may be times when relationships between children, between children and adults and between adults are damaged. Staff and families work closely together within an open, trusting and respectful school ethos to ensure that any harm is repaired and that positive relationships are restored.
