In St Catherine's we are passionate about teaching children different skills and techniques through different mediums and studying different artists. We want the children to enjoy different processes as well as producing final pieces of work to reflect on and evaluate. Children are provided with an overview of art for the whole school so that they have the opportunity to look back at previous learning and build upon their learning.
Art is taught once a term in rotation with D&T. We ensure that children look at a wide range of artistic expressions including, drawing, painting, sculpture and architecture whilst learning specific skills and vocabulary linked to their unit.
We are committed to the wider development of young people and encourage collaborations with professional artists and art organizations through trips and visitors in school.
