Reading was on the menu, when St Catherine’s Catholic Primary kicked off this year’s World Book Day with a special ‘Breakfast and a Book’ event.

Vital lessons from the past were remembered and shared, when our children organised and led their own Holocaust Memorial Day service.

Ofsted has praised the “compassionate and friendly environment” at our school, which has retained its ‘Good’ rating in the Report.

Happy talk was the order of the day when we invited parents and carers to join their children for a special speech and language event on Wednesday 15 October.

There were tasty treats on offer when pupils at our school held their own fundraiser in support of this year’s Children in Need appeal.

The importance of friendship was the order of the day when senior pupils came together to welcome those just starting their educational journey at St Catherine’s Catholic Primary.

It was all about feeling happy, relaxed, and comfortable at St Catherine’s Catholic Primary, when we put our own spin on World Mental Health Day.

On 17th November, we celebrated Children in Need Day with a non-uniform day.

On Tuesday 11th November, they presented a fantastic anti-bullying assembly.

During the month of October, we held Rosary Club. Several children met at lunch time to join in prayer by praying the Rosary through the week.

Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) is the UK’s leading anti-racism educational charity. It was established in January 1996, thanks in part to a donation by then Newcastle United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.

After the start of the term, our Year 6 welcomed the newest members of our St Catherine's family in the form of a Buddy Celebration of the Word.

Year 6, as part of their Faith in Action work, led a very successful cake and coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research. Thank you to everyone who donated. We had so many cakes and biscuits that we will be selling them again at home time.

On World mental health day and we are celebrated this day with the theme “What makes us happy”.

As a school we celebrated a very humbling and thoughtful Mass on Friday we as learned what it means to fast.

In the month of October we celebrated Mary our Mother. We have our Mary Prayer Stations to give the opportunity for personal prayer and think to reflect on how important Mary our Mother is.

Each week we gather together to celebration how the children have lived out our SHINE values in many different ways. Well done to our superstars this week who won awards. Well done for letting your light shine

We had house groups mornings - when our children from Year 1 to Year 6 get together in their houses and experience learning in a different environment, as part of Fair Trade forthnight.

Congratulations and welcome to our new school council members!

The Year 6 children worked very hard to prepare their presentations explaining why they would like to be a House Captain.

Year 6 have been paired up with our new Reception children as part of our Buddy system.

Year 6 beautifully led our Remembrance Day prayer for the school. Each class created a piece of artwork that was presented to remember all the soldiers lives that were lost during the war. Lest we forget.

For the month of October, the children gathered in food and toiletries for St Vincent De Paul. After the end of October, we celebrated our Harvest Festival with our families. It was a fantastic event where the lead us in prayer and in wonderful song.

Anti bullying week was celebrated nationally on the 10th -14th November. The theme was Power for Good

During Lent, the children in every class had the opportunity to take home the Easter Mystery Bag to provide each family with the opportunity to pray and reflect on their own personal Easter Journey.

The children in Year 1- Year 6 made the pilgrimage to St Dominic's in the morning to celebrate a beautiful Mass to remember all St Catherine of Sienna did for her people.

St Catherine's have had a wonderful time celebrating VE Day. We've enjoyed looking at artefacts from the past and preparing treats for our picnic this afternoon.

Year 6 delivered a beautiful class celebration of the word to remember the life and work of Pope Francis.

Children from Year 1 to Year 6 have been practicing their part of the Easter story and Holy Week all week long and this morning we came together to share our work with each other.

Year 1 students hosted a fantastic Easter stay and play event this week, filled with creativity, fun, and family involvement.

A big thank you to everyone who have donated selection boxes for Vinnies. Our School Council have been busy collecting them this morning ready to be delivered.

Children in Year 4 prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion throughout the school year. Their program of study goes hand in hand with the work done with the catechists in the parish and sits comfortably within the Year 4 RE curriculum

Thank you to Year 2 for their beautiful Mary liturgy yesterday morning. As it’s the month of May we celebrate Mary the mother of God and the queen of our hearts. May you have a blessed month and keep Mary in your hearts.

The children from all the classes used different medium to create the Stations of the Cross and during Holy Week the children used them to take part in the Stations of the Cross.

Throughout this Lenten season, our Year 6 students have exemplified the spirit of compassion and generosity by actively participating in charitable initiatives.

We were delighted to welcome Bishop Stephen to our school to celebrate Mass with our children, families and parishioners.

Some of the children attended the Commitment Mass at St Mary's Cathedral on Friday. They got to meet Bishop Stephen.

Young thespians had the opportunity to tread the boards with the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company when they performed one of the Bard’s most infamous plays at the Northern Stage. The Year 3 and 4 pupils from St Catherine’s Catholic Primary School in Newcastle took part in the well-known Shakespearean tragedy Macbeth, thanks to the RSC’s long running Associate Schools Programme.
