How to Apply

Reception

Welcome to Our Reception Class Page!

In our classroom, we have Miss Calvert (Class Teacher) and Mrs Nixon (Nursery Nurse).

We also work closely with adults in our Nursery classroom, including Mrs Craggs, Mrs Terpsiadou and Mrs Langlands, as well as Mrs Trattles, who supports our learning during lunchtime and some afternoons.

A typical morning in Reception includes daily Phonics, Literacy, Reading, RE, singing and story time. In the afternoon, children take part in Maths, story time and additional curriculum areas such as PE, PSHE, Understanding the World and Music.

Children have continuous access to our carefully planned areas of provision throughout the day. They also participate in relevant weekly assemblies and whole-school Celebration of the Word events when appropriate.

Reading

Children will receive reading materials linked to our Read Write Inc. (RWI) scheme when they are ready to blend sounds and words. Please check our Class Dojo page regularly for weekly RWI games and resources that you can enjoy at home with your child.

Book Bags

Children should bring a book bag to school every day. This will be used to carry letters, reading books and reading records (when issued). Please do not send backpacks, as space in our cloakroom is limited. Your child does not need to bring items from home such as toys, teddies or pencils.

Water Bottles

Please send your child to school each day with their own water bottle. Water bottles should contain plain water only. Please do not send juice or flavoured drinks. We will refill water bottles throughout the day as needed.

School Meals

A reminder that school meals are free for all Reception children. We strongly encourage children to enjoy a school meal, as this provides opportunities to try a variety of foods and enjoy a hot, nutritious lunch with their friends. Please do not send food from home. Healthy snacks are provided throughout the day.

PE

Reception children will not take part in PE lessons until later in the year. We will inform parents and carers of PE days when these sessions begin.

Outdoor Learning

We spend a great deal of time in our outdoor learning environment, whatever the weather. Please ensure your child comes to school every day with a hooded coat. If possible, we would also appreciate children having a pair of wellington boots and a puddle suit to keep in school.

Class Dojo

Please continue to check Class Dojo for important messages and updates. We are always available after school if you would like to discuss any questions or concerns. If you wish to arrange a longer appointment, please contact the school office.

Thank you for your continued support.
