Rosary Club
During the month of October, we held Rosary Club. Several children met at lunch time to join in prayer by praying the Rosary through the week.

Children in Need
On 17 th November, we celebrated Children in Need Day. Our school Council decided to hold a non-uniform day and bake sale to raise money for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. Thank you to everyone in our school family for bringing in baked treats and donating money. We are overwhelmed with your generosity! Thank you again for supporting such an important cause.

Odd Socks
Anti bullying week was celebrated nationally on the 10 th -14 th November. The theme was Power for Good Odd Socks Day The children celebrated Anti-bullying by wearing odd socks! It was a great way to celebrate what makes us all unique in Anti-Bullying Week!

Remembrance Prayer
Year 6 beautifully led our Remembrance Day prayer for the school. Each class created a piece of artwork that was presented to remember all the soldiers lives that were lost during the war. Lest we forget.

Buddies
Year 6 have been paired up with our new Reception children as part of our Buddy system. Year 6 children have been getting to know their buddies by spending some quality time with Reception. They absolutely loved having their buddies in class - playing, reading, helping and being such kind role models.

House Groups
The Year 6 children worked very hard to prepare their presentations explaining why they would like to be a House Captain. All the staff and children voted and there were 8 House captains and vice captains elected so they can start inspiring children throughout our school. Well done St Catherine’s- keep shining.

Sponsored Walk
All the children had a lovely morning walking with their class mates and some families members to Jesmond Dene to help them fundraise for the class fund which will support for class trips and resources.

Fair Trade
We had house groups mornings - when our children from Year 1 to Year 6 get together in their houses and experience learning in a different environment, as part of Fair Trade forthnight. St Bede house in Year 3 and looked at which foods can be Fair Frade, and how to recognise the label. The children then designed their own (beautiful and delicious) Fair Trade packed lunches. CAFOD family fast day Mass 2025
As a school we celebrated a very humbling and thoughtful Mass on Friday we as learned what it means to fast. The children led us beautifully through readings and bidding prayers, whilst Canon Simon explained how fasting reminds us of those who have less, and how sharing shares God’s love. We thought about how we can care for each other, and how our harvest collection is going to help those in need.

Happy World Mental Health day!
On World mental health day and we are celebrated this day with the theme “What makes us happy”. We were very lucky this morning to have Doctor Sophie who is a mental health doctor come and talk to us about the importance of looking after our own mental health and being kind to ourselves. MacMillan Coffee Morning
Year 6, as part of their Faith in Action work, led a very successful cake and coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research. Thank you to everyone who donated. We had so many cakes and biscuits that we will be selling them again at home time.

Buddy Stay & Pray
After the start of the term, our Year 6 welcomed the newest members of our St Catherine's family in the form of a Buddy Celebration of the Word. The Reception children were fantastic all throughout despite it being their first time experiencing a Celebration of Word in front of the school. Show Racism the Red Card
Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) is the UK’s leading anti-racism educational charity. It was established in January 1996, thanks in part to a donation by then Newcastle United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop. To show our support for this charity the children wore red on Friday 17th October.
