Year 4

Year 4

Hello and Welcome to our Year 4 class page. I am Miss Kalsi the class teacher.

Reading

Children should bring their reading books with their reading record books daily for our guided reading sessions. Children are encouraged to write in their reading record books about what they are currently reading. Children can change their books once they have read and understood the text.

Homework

As children are getting older it is important to promote the importance of routine in completing weekly homework tasks. Children in Year 4 receive Homework on a Friday and Homework books needed to be handed in on a Wednesday. Homework tasks that are set in homework books are: Weekly spellings - Spelling tests will be a Friday. A Math's or English set activity, and the choice to complete 2 activities throughout the half term from their topic homework grid.

At the end of the academic year children in Year 4 throughout the country take the timetable test. Its essential children are practising their timetables through TTRS at home as well as in school. 10 mins per day is suggested. If you need a new log in for TTRS let Miss Kalsi know. We have various competitions and prizes awarded for children who use this at home.

PE

PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday. The school PE kit should include: a blue t-shirt, blue or black shorts/jogging bottoms and trainers. No jewellery to be worn during P.E. Lessons.

Bookbag (no backpacks)

Children should have a book bag to carry letters, homework, reading book and reading record. This is to come to school every day. No backpacks as we have limited room in the classroom/cloakroom.

If you need to get in contact with me, I'm available after school apart from Wednesday's when we have staff meetings.

Thank you for your continued co-operation and support

Miss Kalsi
