Year 6
Year 6
Welcome to Year 6!
Hello and welcome to our Year 6 page!
I’m Miss Murray and I’m so excited to be teaching this brilliant class. Year 6 is such a special year – full of learning, responsibility and memories that will last long after primary school. I feel really lucky to share this journey with the children, and I know we’re going to have a fantastic time together.
Our Routines
The school day begins at 8:40am when we line up on the main yard.
PE will take place on Monday and Friday – please make sure children come to school in their PE kit.
Homework will be set on Fridays and collected on Wednesdays. This will usually be English or Maths, plus spellings.
We’ll also keep working on our times tables and mental maths to keep those skills sharp.
Reading is a big focus in Year 6, so children should bring their reading record to and from school every day. A few minutes each night makes a huge difference!
Roles and Rewards
Year 6 children are the oldest in school, and that means they get to take on important responsibilities and be role models for the younger pupils. Everyone will have the chance to take on jobs in class and around school.
We’ll also be celebrating effort, kindness and achievement with:
. Shine points (collected on Dojo)
. Table gems (for working collaboratively)
. Certificates in Friday’s assembly
Staying in Touch
If you’d like to chat about anything, please do catch me after school. I’m usually free from 3:20–3:45pm (apart from Wednesdays when we have staff meetings). If you’d prefer a private chat, just let me or the office know and we’ll arrange a time.
I can’t wait to see what this year brings. Year 6 is always full of challenges, fun and big achievements – and I know this class is going to do amazing things!
Miss Murray & Mrs Banks
